Official referral program: new users often get trial credits; referrers can earn account credit (official terms at the time prevail)

1. Open the DigitalOcean affiliate page (digitalocean.com/affiliates) and apply using the form at the bottom (the page notes it runs through networks such as Awin; follow the application page).
2. Note the two paths: the affiliate program (commission) and the in-account Referral program (credits); their rules differ.
3. Once approved, generate affiliate links in the dashboard using official banners and promotions.
4. Commission (official page): for each new paying user you refer, you earn 10% of their monthly spend every month for one year.
5. The official page says new users receive free credits, which you can mention, but amounts follow the campaign page at the time.
6. Place links in original tutorials and deployment guides and disclose the affiliate relationship.
7. Track clicks and paying-user conversions in the dashboard reports.
8. Payout cadence, minimum payment and payout methods follow the affiliate network dashboard.
9. For your own use: set billing alerts in the control panel and destroy idle Droplets, snapshots and volumes.
10. Common invalid cases: self-referrals, or referred users who never pay, which earn no commission under the terms.
11. Leave the affiliate program in the network dashboard; delete all resources before closing your cloud account.
